ABSTRACT
This research has studied about the effect of welding electrode and groove angle of SMAW to mechanical
properties of stainless steel 304 SS. NSN-312 electrode with 45 o of groove angle was obtained maximum
tensile strength 39.97 kg/mm 2 and yield strength 36.3 kg/mm 2 . The tensile and yield strength were affected by
Mn in NSN-312 electrode which formed carbide. In other side, the using of NSN-312 electrode for SMAW
welding process on stainless steel 204 SS caused the groove could be fully filled. This resulted in the HAZ’
area of the specimen could be seen by macroscopic observation.
